Bought my 11-6 Journey several years ago. Perfect for lake fly fishing. Just paired it with a 8hp Yamaha to go with the Minn Kota.
You will love this boat.

Thanks for taking the time to drop a review, Tony! Enjoy your Journey! 🙂

Just received my Journey boat. Rob with Journey is a pleasure to work with and makes the ordering process nice and easy. I changed my order a few times and even added things mid build and he was very accommodating and helps you get everything just how you want it. Kelly is a beaut and the guys did a killer job on the build. Picking up the 9-6 from the shop was a pain free process and Kelly and his guys give you a full run down on the do’s and dont’s of the boat and all the sweet features and accessories you’ve gotten.

My only regret is not ordering one 5 years ago!

Was our pleasure, Josh! Tight lines & thanks for supporting local!

Journey 9.6

Prior to ordering a 9.6 Journey last Fall I checked out the reviews on the Journey Boat website. I liked what I saw online and decided to buy myself a new boat for my 74th birthday in May. Best decision I have made in my ‘old age’ so far…

To provide some perspective I am a pretty hardcore stillwater flyfisherman who has owned a number of float tubes, kickboats, pontoon boats and few different prams over the past 50+ years. All of these watercraft have had pros and cons but, in reality, I am getting too darned old to fish in waders in cold water and unstable boats anymore.

So, after fishing my boat pretty steady over the past month, here are the eight (8) things that impress me the most about my new boat :

1. The stability of this boat is simply amazing. I can string up my 10’ 3” Mystic in the boat with no problem and by this I mean I can move from the back of the boat to the front of the boat with no stability nor balance issues;

2. I ordered my boat with 4 Scotty side mounts and Scotty flush mounts in all four corners. I can sit in the center of the boat and reach everything I need. This means more fishing time when I am on the water;

3. The heavy rubber floor mat option is one I highly recommend. It is real rubber so is easy to roll up and clean after the day is over as well as easy on my legs AND flylines;

4. The infinite position seats are marvelous and easy to adjust just the way you want them;

5. The sounder /fish finder tree is a stroke of genius – it drops perfectly into one of the Scotty flush mounts and can be positioned so it is easy to see water depth from just about any position in the boat – very important when fishing chironomids;

6. The plug in rear wheel option is a real back saver for us old guys. When I have everything out of the boat I can plug in the rear wheels and move the boat easily up rough launch areas found in many of our back country lakes and get the boat to my truck and boat loader. This would be very difficult with a heavier boat or a boat without rear wheels;

7. The oar hangers keep the oars outside the boat and away from the flylines. The thumb screw fasteners on the hangers are brilliant and prevent the hangers from getting knocked into the water (and possibly lost?); and

8. I love the pyramid anchors, anchor holders and ropes – very easy to position the boat quickly and effortlessly. I ordered 15# anchors and they hold very well in windy conditions. The 50’ ropes are of good quality and are easy on the hands and pretty much tangle free. The flush anchor mounts work flawlessly.

To date I have NO concerns with my 9.6. This is high praise for Rob and the team at Journey Boats in Kamloops! I feel great that I was able to buy an excellent boat that is made locally in Kamloops, B.C. Rob was easy to talk with and made the ordering process painless. He gave me some great suggestions regarding accessories and answered all the questions I put to him. When I drove to Kamloops to pick up my boat in early May I received a comprehensive orientation to the new boat and the accessories from the young fellow that had helped build my boat. What more could you ask for?

Damn, that's one very specific, to the point (all 8 of them!), boat and accessories review that I'm sure will be helpful for folks thinking about a Journey! The pleasure was all mine, Gord! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave some feedback! Cheers to many more years of tight lines and good times out there!

I picked up my 9-6 just over a year ago and have used it extensively so far. This boat is a dream. I got it with most of the accessories. I thought I was going to drive Rob nuts with all my hemming and hawing during the build specs, but he was just great to deal with, no pressure and I finally decided on what I wanted and have absolutely no regrets. I used to have a 10ft inflatable and it is amazing just how much more room there is in the Journey. Let alone the fact that the stability of this boat is fantastic. The quality is A1 and it really shows that this boat was designed and built by folks who actually fish. I use a Minnkota 50 lb thrust motor on it and it scoots along quite well. As a side note on my last trip I met up with a fellow who showed up with his brand new boat from one of your competitors. He looked over my Journey and said to me "Oh great, you have a Cadillac and I showed up with an Impala". Thanks to Rob and all the folks at Journey. I know that I certainly made the right choice!

Hey Walt, thanks for stopping by to drop a few words on your experience with the Journey! And no worries on the time it took to finalize the build ... they are custom boats and we're happy to spend the time to make sure folks get exactly what they want/need! Tight lines & a enjoy the Journey! 🙂

My dad and I have been doing a lot of research on the best boats for fly fishing on interior BC lakes when we came across Journey on the internet. I was very impressed with all the positive comments not only regarding the boat quality but also the entire process of building a boat specific to your individual wants and needs. Figured I would call and see what all the hype was about:) Well after my conversation with Rob on the phone I was sold. The attention to detail that are put into a journey along with the quality of build and the expertise of Rob was next level!! We received our boat last week (just in time for my 50th birthday) and could not be happier!! Beyond excited to get our 9-6 on the water. Thank you Rob and the rest of the gang at Journey for such an amazing product and purchase experience!

Hey Jim, you're very welcome! It was a pleasure working with you and we can't wait to see some pictures of you and your Dad enjoying the Journey! Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback.

I was up at Machete lake in the Cariboo. My buddies first trip in my Journey boat. He loved it! I still can’t believe how great this boat is. It’s the best boat I have ever had. Don’t hesitate any longer, buy one!

Thanks again Dan! It's so great to know that all the planning and hard work are resulting in satisfied customers!! Enjoy your Journey ... 🙂

If you are a serious stillwater guy, stop looking. This is the best boat out there. I went with the 9-6. My accessories were 4-side mounts, flush mounts in all 4 corners, infinite seats, and plugin rear wheels. Everything about this boat, is though out to perfection. I added a nice high back seat, and anti-fatigue mats, to make those long day extra comfortable. The floor is completely flat, no rivets,or ribs to get in your way. The floating bench seats give you so much added storage. When fishing alone, seating in the middle, everything is within arm reach. It's so stable even with two adults and a couple kids. No problem. I talked to a guy who was so disappointed he didn't wait for a Journey. Don't be that guy, pull the trigger you won't regret it. The only other boat I might need in the future is a 11-6. Absolutely love my boat. 100 percent satisfied. Thanks Rob, and all the guys at the shop.

Hey Craig, thanks so much for taking the time to drop a few words on your thoughts/experiences with the boat! Very glad to hear that you and your family are enjoying it! Cheers and tight lines to ya ... 🙂

I have to say that dealing with Rob at Journey was a real pleasure. He was very thorough and helpful when customizing my new boat. The wait was well worth it. This boat is rock solid and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I would highly recommend buying a journey if you’re in the market for a quality still water boat. Thanks again for your attention to detail and help.

You're very welcome Sean, the pleasure was ours! Thanks for taking the time to drop a few words. Enjoy the Journey ... 🙂

Wow!! 1 year with our 11-6 journey. My previous fishing boat was a 2006 16’ crest liner fish hawk hull.. First trip on lake Okanagan and I realized they’re not the same. But this little boat: fits in my garage, is very stable , quiet with electric motor, easy to launch by my self, well built, (get the rubber floor),can handle some choppy water,(I do turn into on coming waves from larger boats), haven’t tried the wheels because we’re fishing Kokanee on local lakes that have places to launch with a trailer, and spend most of our time trolling. I’m sitting here trying to think of some cons but I don’t have any. We really like this boat. The set up, trailer, seats are making our move to the Okanagan a most memorable time. Thank you Journey staff for an excellent product. Jimmy

Very much appreciate you dropping by to leave a review, Jimmy! Glad you're digging the Journey!

Great boat! Came from the states to get the custom boat I couldn't find down here (quality and value). Added a Minn Kota electric motor to the already well rigged boat and it has been a dream platform to fish the lakes around Mt. St. Helens. It is easy to tell the boat was designed by people who fish. Stable, roomy and easily customized to move rods, tackle, anchors, and fish finder to wherever we need it. Thanks Journey boat builders for an outstanding quality build and to Rob for the great communication (patient with my countless questions:-). Fish on!

Hey Jeffrey, the pleasure was ours! Appreciate your patience and making the trip for the boat! We did design it for fishermen and we're happy that you are pleased with it! Tight lines and be sure to let us know when your heading back this way for a fish ... 🙂
